To draw the poignant scene on the cover of this issue, Los Angeles sketch-journalist Joey Mason had to find his way into a neighborhood that had just been burned to the ground by a devastating wildfire. To capture the pulse of Berlin during an important election day in February, Rolf Schröter interviewed and made portraits of voters at a polling station. His report, like other articles by Murray Dewhurst, Luis Ruiz and Fred Lynch, is the result of seeing, thinking and drawing like only humans can. The issue also includes a “Bookshelf” section with a review by Tina Koyama and highlights about other books we like.
