After living two years in Saudi Arabia, urban sketcher Kristina Matveeva has turned a selection of pages from her sketchbooks into an engrossing zine. In a personal essay laid out around the drawings, Matveeva describes her experience acclimating to the country and its culture, taking readers on a fascinating journey page after page. Matveeva’s visual stories about life in Saudi Arabia received an Urban Sketchers Reportage Grant in 2023. And her reportage article “Sketching without sea legs in Tunisia,” was recently published in On the Spot magazine.
