London Greens

Sketches from small journeys in London during 2020 and 2021.

Artist and urban sketcher Lis Watkins firstly drew plants in her back garden in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. Then, as the restrictions eased, she hesitantly moved to local parks and gardens. As rules changed again, slightly further afield to places in South East London. Lucky to have many green spaces in the capital, she found drawing to be the way to zone out from the noise of news and politics.

First published in Autumn 2022, “London Greens” was nominated for the ‘Prix du Carnet de Voyage International’ at the ‘Rendez-vous du Carnet de Voyage’ in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
